Background:
The database of the assets and liabilities of Estonian households is built on the Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS) of Estonian households. The HFCS is a survey run at the initiative of the European Central Bank using a harmonised methodology that can produce internationally comparable statistics for assets and liabilities. The survey collects data from households on their main place of residence, real estate, vehicles, business assets, deposits and other financial investments. It also covers the loans and other liabilities of households, and their income and consumption, and it has questions on their expectations and credit constraints.
More information on the results and methodology of the survey
The statistical release on the assets and liabilities of Estonian households describes the results of the 2017 Household Finance and Consumption Survey. The release is independent of economic policy releases and is presented separately from them.
