The Eesti Pank Museum at Estonia pst 11 will be showing an audiovisual performance called The Secret of the Great Safe as part of the special programme for the Night of Museums on 29 August. Throughout the evening, visitors will be able to find out about the history of money that has circulated in Estonia and to join a game hunting for information.
The theme of the Night of Museums this year is Time in the Night, and as part of it the Eesti Pank Museum will be showing an audiovisual performance specially recorded for the evening starring the great Estonian figures Lydia Koidula, Carl Robert Jakobson and Jakob Hurt, who all appeared on the Estonian kroon banknotes. The one-time head of state and Governor of Eesti Pank Jüri Jaakson also makes an appearance in the light-hearted show written by Loone Ots.
The show will be screened three times during the evening in the Talupojasaal room of the Eesti Pank Museum at 18.15, 19.30 and 21.00. The show is 25 minutes long. There will be a quiz about the performance after it finishes, with prizes for the winner!
The permanent exhibition of the museum will be open throughout the Night of Museums telling the story of money that has circulated in Estonia and explaining the work of the central bank today. There will be a game to hunt for information and the museum shop will be open. The Eesti Pank museum will open on 29 August for the Night of Museums programme from 18.00 to 23.00.
